Homemade Barbie Cake Idea
I started this Barbie Cake Idea with a bundt pan and a flower shaped cake pan. I stacked them together and then carved the shape of a skirt. I covered it with the fondant and then worked on it for about 3 weeks keeping it in the fridge until I was finished decorating it. I used actual ribbon for the stripes and lace to cover the bottom so it wasn't all edible. My favorite part was the idea to have the Barbie hold a little cake that had the candles on it. It was so adorable. I just bought a little paper mache box and filled it with cake and covered that with the fondant as well.
Of course I wouldn't serve a 3 week old cake with inedible things on it so I made the second cake the night before and made it look like a present. It was just a square chocolate cake covered with white fondant and then I stenciled the hot pink fleur de lis on the outside and then placed a real bow on top. Just for fun I decorated the purse looking box with Happy Birthday Lana and a mirror and crown inside.
