Sweet Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake with Piped Pink Buttercream

I made this Barbie Doll birthday cake for my granddaughter’s 2nd birthday. I bought 2 packets of cake mix, margarine and icing sugar. I baked the cake in a deep, round, ovenproof bowl. I also bought a cheap Barbie doll and took off its clothes and legs.

When the cake had cooled down I made a small hole in the middle of the cake and iced the doll inside the cake. Then I colored the butter icing pink and iced the skirt of the doll smoothly with a knife. Afterwards I made stripes on the skirt with a fork. Then I made zig-zag patterns on the skirt with a star tip and decorated it with pink and silver balls. I also iced the doll’s body with a star tip and put two candles in candle sticks in the doll’s hands.

My granddaughter was only two years old but she was really thrilled with her birthday cake that looked like her favorite Barbie doll her mother had given her for her birthday.

  1. Thanks for submitting your cake iced with butter icing. I want to bake my daughter exactly the same cake for her birthday.
