Coolest Barbie Island Princess Cake

When the movie “Barbie Island Princess” came out last year my daughter freaked out whenever she saw the singing Barbie at the store. I decided to buy the Barbie for her birthday and use it for her present and the Barbie Island Princess cake at the same time.

My sister brought down the cake mold for the dress. She bought it at Roberts craft. She made cakes in the past using full size Barbies and I didn’t want to waste money on the ugly-cheap looking half Barbie you are supposed to use for this cake pan. We used three cake mixes and two 9-inch round cake pans for the bottom of the dress. The dress mold cake pan we filled 3/4 full and cooked separately from the two 9-inch cakes because it takes a lot longer to cook.

When the cakes were cool we undressed the Barbie, cut a little hole at the top of the cake and then shoved her in. The cake split a little on the sides, but we just filled it in with frosting. We then used frosting tips to make a cool design on her top half. We used the tubes of white frosting that costs around $1.20 each and used food coloring to color it blue and pink. We then sprinkled the sprinkles all over her dress.

My daughter was ecstatic when she saw her cake!
