I made this Barney and Friends Birthday Cake for a friend's daughter. I used 2 9in cake pans. The cake has 2 layers. Bought the vanilla frosting from food store(Stop and Shop) and tinted them using Wilton food coloring gel(found at Micheal's, A.C.Moore & Walmart).

I made the Barney figures, flowers, bow on top and birthday banner all a week ahead of time in order to harden in time. The figures are made with ready made gumpaste and I put them on lollipop sticks. The flowers were also made with gumpaste and I used Wilton flower cookie cutters. The birthday banner and Bow were also made with gumpaste.

The purple ribbons on the side(which give the cake a present look) were made with Wilton ready made fondant. I made those the same day the cake was due because I did not want them to harden until on the cake.

The lettering on the birthday banner is made with royal icing(hardens fast).

This is a beautiful cake... my daughter is a huge Barney fan and so im making her 2nd birthday party based on him... I just absolutely loved your decorations and are seriously considering copying it... don't know how it will come out but i still have a month so i have time to practice..

I love making cakes also but have been having a hard time tinting my Barney to the correct purple. What colors did you mix to get your so correct??? I am putting my cake together on this Saturday so hope to get some feed back from you.

Wow this has been the best barney cake so far that I have seen. I have been searching for barney cakes on the internet all day,and no luck. This is so awesome.Where did you get the barney and friends images and how would you make them stick to the stick? Are they edible?

I love this cake! So pretty. I am planning my daughter's first birthday party and was worried that Barney is old now although she loves him, but with a cake like this you brought Barney and Friends back!! AMAZING!!!
