Homemade Barnyard Birthday Cake

I started this Barnyard Birthday Cake with a 9x13 baking pan for the base of the cake. I made homemade buttercream icing to be used for the entire cake.

I colored all the icing in each color that I needed. The fence is just crafting fence from the craft store, stained with food coloring. The grass tip was used to make the grass. The animals were plastic. For the bale of hay, I used a cupcake.


For the barn I started out with a 8x8 baking pan. I cut all the pieces to shape it into a barn, using wooden skewers to hold it together. I used a layer of white icing to cover the barn, put it back into the freezer for about 15 mins while I worked on the base and then covered it in red icing.
