Homemade Baseball And Bat Cake

For the baseball cake, I took a ball shaped pan and filled approximately halfway with butter recipe cake batter. Once it was done, I cut across it to make it completely flat on the bottom and turned it upside down on wax paper. I let it cool overnight in the fridge. To ice it, I made homemade buttercream icing and coated it lightly before using a star tip to fill it in. I used a tube of red icing to draw the laces on the ball.

For the bat cake, I got my husband to make me a template out of posterboard to cut the cake out. I again used the butter recipe cake batter mix and poured it into an 11x15 pan. Once it was done and cooled, I turned it upside down on wax paper and again let it cool in the fridge overnight. I took the template my husband made and with a good sharpened knife cut along the edges (I had to cut the template so that there were 2 separate ends, creating 2 parts to the cake, then had to piece the cake back together).

I made homemade peanut butter icing (the fam's favorite) to give the bat a wooden look.
