Homemade Baseball Cake

This Baseball cake is my first cake that I have decorated and it was so easy.

I made a regular sheet cake in a 9x12 pan. I flipped it cut it flat. I covered the cake with white frosting then I cut out a shape for the diamond with a knife. Frosted the green with a star tip so it looked a little more grass like but was quick.

Then I added some chocolate chips to the white frosting for dirt. Smooted on that to make a diamond. I bought some over priced men and added them to the cake. The little baseballs on the side are those sugar candies you can buy at cake stores.

The second time I made this cake I added some brown sugar to the top of the dirt and it looked even a touch better.

I am going to make your baseball design for my grandaughter's 5th birthday party..

She has allergies So I will be making Glutten free brownie mix for the base making it into cake type brownies.. I was just going to use dark brown food coloring for the dirt.. I still will but I love the idea of brown sugar.. Others said use Graham crackers which is a very good idea but I couldn't , because as I said her allergies...
So Thank you for sharing your ideas with me. I will be using flat square gum for the bases and of course green frosting for the grass. I may use coconut I don't know yet.. I will be making it Saturday.
