Coolest Baseball Cake

My friend’s baseball team was having their season end party, and wanted a Baseball Cake for the team! I figured it would be cute to use the red, white, and blue, since baseball is the American past time!

I started with Duncan Hines Butter Golden cake mix and made a square cake for the base, just thought that would give it a more “boyish” look. Then I went with two more tiers of round cakes. I used Wilton Buttercream icing and Wilton fondant. I started with a blue base, and darkened the blue with a touch of black coloring to make it resemble the blue of their team jersey’s. I then smoothed it down with a Viva paper towel.

After icing the entire cake, and stacking it, I made some baseballs and stars out of fondant for the details. I added a few blue fondant polka dots, and some red trim. I then made a half rounded ball for the baseball on top. I iced it, added the red stitches and piped in some grass. The kids loved it, the Mom’s were happy, and everyone had a great time at the party!!
