Fun Homemade Baseball Cake for a 70th Birthday

I made this Baseball Cake for my husband’s 70th birthday as he is a big Ray’s fan. The cake was half chocolate and half yellow baked in a 14 inch square pan and the hat on top was chocolate cake baked in half a Wilton ball pan.

The big cake was frosted in butter cream frosting in white, then I drew the baseline with a ruler and used light brown sanding sugar to fill in the baseline. I then used green butter cream frosting and 233 tip to make the grass for the rest of the ball field. I made the bases out of fondant. Then I frosted the round ball cake with a little buttercream frosting then covered with fondant and made the brim of the cap from fondant. I then cut out the TB from fondant and attached to the cap with a small amount of water. I used candles to spell out Happy Birthday and 70.

My husband was so delighted with the way the cake came out.
