Homemade Batman Birthday Cake & Cupcakes
This Batman Birthday Cake & Cupcakes was made for one of my student's 5th birthday celebration. The top cake is a two layer marble (vanilla & chocolate) cake made with a round 6in mold. I covered it with homemade buttercream frosting (shortening, butter and confectioners sugar) colored with yellow food coloring.
The bottom edge of the cake is covered in black buttercream frosting stars. For the Batman logo on top I colored store-bought fondant (which is pretty easy to work with) black, printed out the logo and cut it using a toothpick to simulate the bat signal. The letters and number were made with cookie cutters.
The matching cupcakes are vanilla & chocolate. To decorate them I piped black buttercream frosting and yellow stars to the vanilla cupcakes and yellow buttercream frosting and black stars to the chocolate cupcakes.
All decorating took about 1 1/2 hours including time for cutting the designs done in fondant.
