Homemade Batman Gotham City Birthday Cake

Homemade Batman Gotham City Birthday Cake

My son Angus was having a batman party for his 5th birthday. He decided he wanted Gotham City with batman flying between the buildings. I CAN DO THAT! I used Betty Crocker's choc swirl cake mix. I used a large rectangle tin and a round tin, all up using 4 cake mixes.

Black buttercream icing for the buildings, yellow fondant for the windows. The round cake in the centre had Batmans utility belt around the outside. I painted some Styrofoam black for the night sky and placed stars and the Batman signal for the backdrop. Batman was attached to some rods inserted into the cake with fishing line. I then cut a road out of fondant colouring it grey and placed a couple of Batman cars on it. Tic tacs were used for the road markings.

I was really pleased with the end result of this Batman Gotham City Birthday Cake especially the reaction I got from the kids. Definitely made all the hard work worthwhile!
