Homemade Batman Monster Truck Cake
One of my student's parents asked if I would decorate a cake for his birthday. He loves monster trucks. I used the Wilton cruiser car and cut away some of the top to form the cab. I traced the car pan on a cake board and cut it out.
After icing it with butter cream icing, I covered it with black fondant (Michaels now sells large tubs of pre-colored fondant) It's supported by 4 dowel rods covered in black fondant (behind the tires). The tires are made from rice krispie treats that are covered in fondant.
The emblems are made of yellow fondant which were then hand-painted. The windows were also hand-painted with Wilton's black food coloring. The cake underneath was iced to look like mud and turf. I used the #283 Wilton's tip to make the grass. The dad thought it was awesome and assured me that his son would love it.
