Coolest Beach Theme Cake

I started out with knowing that I had to make a cake for my mom’s birthday. And she lives in Florida, and loves the beach. So that’s where the idea for a Beach Theme Cake came from. I just iced the whole cake white and made it kind of messy looking, then I used an airbrush machine to airbrush the water blue (it is a good tip to airbrush before you add on the sand because I did the sand first, and sand was EVERYWHERE).

But anyways, after I airbrushed the water, I added in some sand by mixing 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. This recipe I got from friendship bread and it made the perfect look for sand. Then I took a star tip and white icing and made a wave crest, that connects the water to sand. I also took teddy grahams and used icing for the bathing suits. I used fondant for the beach towels and the inner tubes. I used small pretzel sticks for the palm tree bases and green fondant for the leaves.

It ended up being a big hit, and the part of the cake with the cinnamon/sugar mix actually turned out tasting pretty good.
