Homemade Bear Cake
I made this bear cake for my sister's baby shower. She didn't know if she was having a boy or girl so I used colors that could go with either. I used 10" round cake pans for the bottom layer, 8" round for the top tier and then I used the mini 3D bear from Wilton for the topper.
I frosted the majority of the cake with buttercream that I colored light blue and rolled out fondant and used a cookie cutter for the stars. For the bear, I had separated a small amount of buttercream and added cocoa for a chocolate coat. A dowel was placed down the middle of his head to hold him on the cake and with a little extra frosting. I gave him a rattle to play with!
The cake was a big hit at the shower and as a result, I have a few more showers yet to do this year!
