Homemade Beauty School Cake
I made this Beauty School Cake for a co-worker who was leaving our medical office to go to beauty school. I wanted to wish her the best.
The cake was made using the Pampered Chef batter bowl. I made two cakes with the batter bowl, trimmed the top of each and inverted one onto the other to make a round cake. I used straws inserted into the cakes to help support the weight. The cake was then covered with a thick coat of butter cream icing.
The face of the cake is marshmallow fondant colored with yellow and a little red Wilton concentrated paste. The hair is also marshmallow fondant. I used a pasta maker with the spaghetti attachment to make the strands of hair. The rollers in the hair are Swiss Cake Rolls wrapped with fondant hair. I also placed pink cotton candy "hair" in foil on the head as if a hair color application went terribly wrong.
The expression on the face is priceless! The cake was a big hit at the farewell party. I hope this cake brought Kellie a little luck to take with her, or at least a smile!
