Cool Homemade Bingo Cake

This Bingo cake was for my husband’s Grandma’s 90th birthday. It was a Bingo themed party and I was in charge of the cake! It took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to do, but it turned out pretty good!

I started with a yellow boxed cake in 2 11×16 pans and filled it with a delicious strawberry butter cream filling (butter cream combined with strawberry jam- super easy and delicious). I covered the cake in the strawberry butter cream as well and then laid on pre-made fondant from Wilton.

I made the cards starting with a piece of fondant cut into a rectangle (I had to guess on a size and laid it on the cake to see how they fit and adjusted from there) and used a piping bag with a #2 tip to make the lines and the numbers with black icing. You can also use the edible pens, I just didn’t have a black one and so I used black icing instead. I glued the bingo cards on with regular butter cream.

I made the bingo balls with fondant as well and used a blue edible pen to write on the call letters/numbers. All the bingo chips were tinted fondant (using Wilton’s color gels), but you could use the Necco candy wafers candies or Sprees if you wanted to.

I know it isn’t perfect, but I had a really good time making it!
