Cute DIY Birthday Barbie Cake

I always wanted a Birthday Barbie Cake when I was little, but never got one. I figured that since it was my 35th birthday, I’d make one for myself!

I used my Pampered Chef Batter bowl with one cake mix. I baked it at 350 degree for about 1.5 hours. I felt like the cake wasn’t tall enough so I baked a 6 inch round cake to add more height. I trimmed both cakes so they would lay flat, and put buttercream frosting in between the layers.

To keep the layers from slipping, I inserted 4 wooden skewers all the way into the cake. (Just cut the skewers to length) Then I put a thick layer of buttercream over the entire cake.

I made some yellow marshmallow fondant to cover the cake and used Wilton fondant cutters to cut out the flower decorations. The Barbie is also a Wilton half-Barbie that is in the baking aisle.

I think it’s the best 35th birthday cake ever!
