Homemade Blue Willow Tea Pot Cake
I had a friend ask for me to make a tea pot cake for her Mom and she liked the Blue Willow design. So I used a ceramic bowl I had and baked two cakes in the same bowl. I then placed one on top of the other to form the shape of the teapot.
I iced the cake with butter cream icing and smoothed it with a hot metal spatula. I placed the cake in the refrigerator for an hour to let the icing harden. I then hand painted the blue willow design on with a very fine paint brush and blue food coloring. The handle and the spout are made of fondant. They were placed on with dowel rods.
She loved the cake!!!! The homemade blue willow tea pot cake was very easy to do and the outcome was beautiful I almost didn't want to give it to her! I have made several more of those cakes since.
