Coolest Blues Cake

This Blues Clues cake is a 9″ round cake. Each ear is formed from two whole cupcakes (at the end) and 2 half-cupcakes (to form the arch). I cut a small wedge out for the mouth, and replaced it with a wedge from a trimmed cupcake, so that the tongue would hang out of the mouth a little.

For a nice thin layer of icing, I used one and a half can of white vanilla, saving a portion of out about two tablespoons for the tongue. I used red and blue food coloring to get the desired colors. I cut the nose out of a blue fruit roll up. The white of the eyes are two flattened mini-marshmallows and the blue irises are blue M&Ms.

Kids loved the cake, ate it up.
