Homemade Blue's Clues Cake

I made this Blue's Clues cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She requested a "Blue" cake even though she doesn't watch the show. I looked at a lot of cakes online and this is what I came up with.

I found a picture of Blue's head in a story book and enlarged it on the photocopier to make a template to follow.

I baked two 9x13 chocolate cakes and made my own butter cream frosting.

I cut the head shape out of the cakes after freezing them to make them easier to work with. I cut the nose out of the scraps to give the cake some depth.

I tinted the majority of the frosting the lighter blue using neon liquid food colouring and also made a small amount of the darker blue colour for her spots and a very small amount of red for her tongue.

I used blue and red sugar crystals on her spots and tongue on top of the icing to jazz it up a little.

For the eyes I used 1 large marshmallow and cut the ends off for each eye. I then added icing and sparkles for the blue.
