Myself and two friends decided to make this Homemade British Army Tank Cake for my girlfriend before she left to join the army.
The main cake base was made up of 2 large rectangular sponge cakes sandwiched together with butter icing and jam. The turret was cut from two smaller “bread loaf” type tins of the same cake mixture and was again stuck down using butter icing and jam.
We purchased green rollable icing from a specialist cake shop and covered the tank before adding the accessories:
Gun: Fudge Chocolate bar
Wheels: Oreos – doubled up for thickness
Tracks: Milka chocolate bar, rested on top of the Oreos
Dirt: Crush digestive biscuits with cocoa powder
Camouflage: Piping (but I think melted chocolate would have worked better)
Fire: Sparklers stuck in the fudge chocolate bar!
The fluffy thing driving the tank is in fact a chicken: Enough said!
