Bumblebee Cake
This bumblebee cake was a surprise for a friend's birthday, she was going out in a bee costume so I made a cake to match.
I made 2 chocolate cakes in different sized oven bowls. I cut a quarter off the side of the smaller cake and stuck it to the side of the large cake to make the head and the abdomen.
I made a white chocolate frosting and coloured it yellow and covered both cakes.
The stripes are sliced fondant icing and the eyes are also made from fondant with a black edible gel for the pupils. The feelers are liquorice sticks.
For the wings I melted some white chocolate and piped 2 wing shapes onto some greaseproof paper and left it to cool in the fridge before placing on top of the cake to finish.
