Homemade Butterfly Birthday Cake

I made this butterfly birthday cake for a meeting at my work, the staff loved it so much I had to cut it first or they wouldn't eat it! I made another one just like it for my mother's birthday and she just adored it. They tasted as good as they looked too!

I enjoy making the cakes without the shaped pans. I cut them out freehand and really don't know how to make frosting flowers, but I did my best and I think it turned out pretty good! I am trying more designs and practicing my decorating techniques. I am going to try to make all kinds of shapes to fit any occasion.
