Homemade Butterfly Birthday Cake
My cousin stated (jokingly!) that she wanted a purple and green sparkly butterfly for her birthday cake. I took it as a challenge and made her a Butterfly Birthday Cake. It's actually made with two butterfly cakes made with the Wilton butterfly pan.
I had a ton of fondant and Italian buttercream in the freezer left over from a wedding cake I'd made for this cousin's sister a couple months before. The blue fondant background is a bit marbled (on purpose). The sparkly parts of the butterfly were painted with vodka then sprinkled with sanding sugar. Some of the decorations were painted with pearl dust too. I used up a bunch of leftovers from that wedding cake!
