Homemade Butterfly Cake
This Butterfly Cake was my (twin) daughter's second birthday cake. My husband and I usually put in a lot of effort into these cakes!
I usually use Nigella's buttermilk cake recipe. It is moist and sturdy - perfect for cutting out.
Like with my other cakes I design, print and laminate a picture which I stick to a thick board. In this case I've added some laminated butterflies and flowers and stuck them to some asetate to give a 3D effect.
I always use gel of powder colouring and purchased some ready made icing butterflies decoration and smarties to make the seams a bit more neat.
