Homemade Cake Cake
This was a cat cake I made for my two year old son who really loves "Meow's".
It was actually SO much easier than I thought it would be and it was a lot of fun to make. I had seen the cake on this site and tried to do the same thing, while adding my own imagination to it.
Here is how I made it:
I made 3 chocolate cakes in circle pans and then froze them for almost 2 days (make sure you wrap them up tight so you don't get freezer burn). I placed each cake above the other (like a snowman) but I cut the curvy part so that it was a straight line (so they would fit together). I used the third cake for making the tail and the ears...which was SO easy cause the tail is only a half a moon shape and you don't have much to cut with a circle pan!
The ears I did freely and they actually looked better when they weren't exact.
I made my own icing which was very easy and then adding a bit of cocoa powder to make it brown. I "glued" the pieces together using the icing and then iced the whole cake over. I used black licorice for all the black lines. I just cut it to the size I wanted and it came out great.
I made the eyes out of half a marshmallow (just cut it with a pair of scissors) and mini Oreo cookies, the rest I drew on with red and pink icing (which I bought).
Hope this helps anyone who is looking to make a great "Meow" cake!
