Army Campout Cake
This campout cake was made for my niece who was in JROTC in her high school. It was her 16th birthday.
The cake was just a box mix. I did one rectangle cake and the hill is the half football cake pan. The icing was Wiltons buttercream. I did the camo design with star tip. The river is white icing sprayed with blue coloring. The rocks are edible candy rocks I got from our candy store in our mall.
The fire is pretzel sticks with orange and yellow icing for the flames. The people are royal icing inside flannel bags. I just had some scrap flannel and I stitched 3 sides of a rectangle for the bags. The tents are toothpicks hot glued together.
Then I stitched 2 triangles and 2 rectangles together for the tent. It got hot glued to the toothpick frame and the slit for the door and it was done. Trust me, I can't sew, so it was as easy as it could get!
