Homemade Candyland Cake Design
Everything on this Candyland Cake Design is edible (except the toothpicks holding the little flags). This is a half sheet yellow cake with banana filling, frosted in buttercream icing. I used fondant icing the day before to cut out the colored path, gingerbread men, the gingerbread colored game pieces, candy canes and the CANDYLAND wording on the side of the cake all edible and made of fondant icing.
I airbrushed the green color below for the grass, piped in the snow, used graham crackers to put together Gramma Nut's house, Iced and made the roof out with smarties, used a regular cone and 2 sugar cones for the castle and piped the tops with buttercream icing. The rest was decorated with Sixlets, Dots, DumDum pops, Tootsie Pops, gumballs, perpermints, and cinnamon hots.
This was a fun cake to make but time consuming. It was such a hit!
