Wow! what a great adventure it was making this carnival cake. It was made for my nephew and niece’s birthday party. They had a Carnival themed party. I had a great time making the little animals and people, watching them come to life. They were all made of fondant.
I worked on these for over a two week period. The large cake is a 10 inch single layer with a 6 inch single layer on top. The train in front is made of rice crispy treats covered in fondant. To give me ideas on the animals, I took reference from Wilton fondant yearbook. This was the first time I had made animals and people. I did not realize how easy it was. The flags on the main cake are fondant hung on string. The poles are wooden skewers stuck down in the cake. The two small cakes are 6 inch single layer cakes for each child to have their own cake.
