Coolest Cars Baseball Cake

When my son, Mason, was turning 6, he was very much into the Cars movie and baseball. He couldn’t decide what kind of birthday cake he wanted, so he asked for a cake that was Cars and baseball. I had to think a bit on that one, but finally I decided on a baseball diamond with some Cars characters playing ball.

To make it unique and fit with Cars, I turned the regular lines between bases into roads. I first baked a big square chocolate cake with boxed cake mix. I own a large square cake pan, but I’m sure you could also put together a couple of 9×13 cakes. I iced where the dirt would be with a tan icing and then sprinkled on crushed graham crackers.

The grass is piped on with a grass tip. The roads are made from black edible paper with white icing for lines. I made the bases, bat, and ball from marshmallow fondant. I finished the cake with two of my son’s Cars figures playing ball.

Mason absolutely loved his combo Cars Baseball Cake. I tied in the Cars/baseball combo by buying Cars balloons and baseball balloons along with Cars and baseball plates and napkins that had similar colors on them.
