Cool Homemade Cars Cake Using Wilton’s Lightning McQueen Pan

We made this Lightning McQueen Cars Cake for our son’s 4th birthday party. We used a picture from Wilton for inspiration. It was truly a family effort! I pulled in my husband and my mom to get this done. My husband, who is not a cake artist, did a great job piping the candy car.

The cake itself was chocolate. We poured melted Candy Melts into the Lightning McQueen pan and once cooled, piped details using Candy Melts in different colors (the car was really heavy). The gray cake frosting was butter cream and the sides we frosted in plain white and then used a small square-shaped cutter to cut out black fondant squares.

It was a lot of work, but was all worth it when our son saw it and his face lit up!

  1. I know this cake taste as good as it looks! Delicious! She was able to capture the design and details of Lighting McQueen. What I love best about the cake is that it was a family affair. Being in the kitchen and baking as a family must be great.
