Cute Homemade 3D Cars Cake

I made this Cars Cake for my nephew Sam’s 3rd birthday.

I purchased the ready made sponges from the shop, to save time you get 2 in packed (square). I needed the 2 packs. I placed one on top of each other and then cut on as the bottom. I then cut one in half and placed on top of each other and placed at the long end. With the last sponge I cut at an angle to shape the front window and back window and then used the off cut as the back spoiler.

I then made the a butter icing mix and coloured in red, blue, yellow and left some white. First coat was white to smooth out the crumbs and made my first layer of icing go on smoother. I piped on the red stopping to mark out the windows and eyes with a black icing pen. For the wheels I used Oreo biscuits then wrote the number 3 and Sam’s name in the icing pen. I was thrilled with the finished product.
