Coolest Castle Birthday Cake

I made this castle birthday cake using disposable square cake pans, white cake mix, Bulk Barn buttercream icing, Wilton spray coloring, Wilton edible glitter, colored sugar and ice cream cones. The hardest part of making this cake look nice was trying to level it and filling in the uneven edges with icing.

Cut your cakes into whatever shapes you wish and then stack them on top of each other using icing. Put on a “crumb coat” of buttercream icing to “seal” the cake….wait approx. 15 mins. for the icing to “crust” and become slightly hard and then proceed to icing the entire cake. Dip the spatula in a dish of water frequently when icing the cake and the icing will be easier to work with and will have a smoother finish.

Spray the entire cake with edible spray coloring, add ice cream cones, marshmallow and any other decorations that you may wish. Sprinkle with edible colored sugar and edible glitter. (Brush corn syrup on the icecream cones and then roll in the colored sugar to get the “sparkle” effect.)
