Princess Castle Cake
I got the idea for a castle cake after seeing the turret kit in a craft store and decided that I had to make this cake for a friend's daughter. I have two boys and am used to making blue and brown so I was really going to enjoy making a 'pretty' cake.
I started out by baking two round cakes. 1 10" and 1 8" and icing them in white and placing them on top of each other with supports in between.
I then iced all of the turret pieces (window borders and turret peaks), the door and windows. I then assembled and placed the turrets, door and windows on the cake and placed little sugar flowers around the base of everything (both cakes, turrets, window sills, and door). I then used a leaf tip to stagger leaves around and under all of the flowers to create a more realistic look.
The cake did take quite a while but I really enjoyed making it and it was a big hit at the party. Have had numerous calls since to decorate more.
