Coolest Castle Cake

I made this castle cake for my son’s 5th birthday party and he was really thrilled with it!

I baked 3 round chocolate cakes, placed them on top of each other and then iced them with chocolate butter icing. The towers are 4 cheap, shop bought Swiss rolls which I iced onto the sides.

The next layer consists of a smaller shop bought chocolate round with half a Swiss roll placed on top to make a centre tower. Wafer cones were placed on top of the swiss roll towers and iced in place. I was planning to ice patterns onto the cones using icing tubes but didn’t get round to that part.

The drawbridge is a Kitkat and the castle has been decorated with smarties for added colour. Icing sugar flowers placed along the bottom. I filled a play mobile treasure chest with smarties and placed a few knight around for added effect.

Mitchell had a fabulous party and the castle cake rounded off the event perfectly. Because it is so big and tall, it makes for a really good table centre piece!
