Castle Cake

Castle Cake

I used Wilton's Castle kit for this cake. It took me about seven hours. I have only made a few cakes so I might be a bit slow.

What you will need for this castle cake (not clear in instructions) is a two layer 6 inch cake & a two layer 10 inch cake. My bottom pan was a 9 inch & it was a tad small to accommodate all of the turrets. I would recommend having one more cake mix on hand just in case the bottom cake isn't tall enough for the door.

I bought the pre-made flowers at a cake store and instead of the leaves there meticulously made I just used a zigzag tip to frost. Instead of using candy melts, I just put the turrets in a glob of Royal icing then iced around it with more green.
Otherwise, I followed the instructions. Ideally, one could ice the turrets & door a day or two early.

My 4 year old & 5 year old twins were pretty awed by it. Last year I was expecting any day so they got store bought cakes.
