Cool Homemade Religious Castle Cake Idea

Having attempted to paint a flat cake (see Heffalump cake) the year before, I chose to make a 3D cake for Alice’s 3rd birthday and she had insisted on a pink Castle Cake Idea. I used a square banana cake for the main castle and Swiss rolls for the towers. The shade of pink wasn’t the original intention but I decided it was a change from the usual pastel pinks. The white top of the center was melted white chocolate as I wanted a hard surface to write on.

The turrets are upturned icecream cones, dipped in melted chocolate and rolled in hundreds and thousands (by far the messiest stage). I made battlements from mini marshmallows and used a writing syringe to draw the windows, door and drawbridge with melted milk chocolate. I wrote her name with icing.

It was fun to make and as usual, got demolished pretty quickly.
