Homemade Cat Birthday Cake

I used the cakes on this site as inspiration (thanks everyone!). This cat birthday cake is a kind of a combo of the Betty Crocker style cat cake and the Wilton animal cracker.

I used marzipan to build up the face and for the shape of the legs (I am sure you can use fondant, but I live in France and its not readily available).

It was a lot easier than I thought and would definitely do it again.

I'm hoping to make this for my son's birthday in a couple weeks. He's cat-crazy! Can you tell me what kind of tip you used to make it look like fur? Any advice or details you can give me would be appreciated!:)
