Adorable Homemade Cat Face Cake

The idea from the cat cake came from my mother in law’s birthday, she’s a cat freak and her “baby’s” name is Maggie so I wanted to create an identical cake for her of Maggie. I was nervous because this was my first cake I ever designed that took detail. However it turned out really fun and everyone loved it.

I made the cake out of one cake mix and two round cake pans. One of them was for the head, the other was cut up for the collar, and ears. I had a picture of Maggie next to the cake so I would know how to frost it. I first assembled the cake how I wanted it then began to frost it using the star tip.

I had three different frosting bags and two pre made spray tubes of frosting. I alternated using the dark brown tan and white frosting to match the fur of the cat. Once I had the color pattern down I took a fork and roughed up the frosting making swift up marks to make the frosting look like fur.

The white for the whiskers were from the tub frosting and the mouth also. The eyes were made of gummy eyes that I just detailed to make them look like cat eyes.
