Cute Homemade Cat In The Hat Cake

I made this Cat In The Hat cake with my lab partner, Megan, for a school project.

We took the idea of the Hat from others on the website, and added Thing 1 and Thing 2, and the Fish, to give it a little more character.

The Hat’s base is made of 5 layers, after stacking we pushed in 5 dowels around the outside, to give it some extra support. For the very bottom, we used a pizza pan so the bottom would hang out.

The Hat is covered with a star tip to give it a “fuzzy” feel. We used a stiff Wilton frosting recipe that uses meringue powder(Wilton). Using the stiff frosting gave me quite a hand work out, but allowed me to add Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the sides. The base of the board says “The out of the box came Thing One and Thing Two. But the Fish said, “No, No!””

If I would have had more time, make it again. I would like to add Cat ears on both sides of the hat. I would also put more detailing in the Hat and fish bowl.
