Coolest Homemade Pastel Colored Caterpillar Birthday Cake

I used a small Pyrex bowl to make all the bumps of the Caterpillar Birthday Cake. The bowls held about 2 cups of cake batter. The head was a little bigger, I used the scraps I cut off from the others to mold and shape the head.

I used 4 cups of buttercream icing, with size 18 star tip. I made cookies baked with lollipop sticks and frosted with royal icing to spell out the name. I used a grass tip to make it look like the caterpillar was in grass. I used black gel for the eyes and mouth and pipe cleaners for the antennas. It took about 6-8 hours to decorate. I decorated each piece on wax paper and then transported it on a spatula to the cake board.

Have your design placed out so you know where to put them. I also had some batter left, which I made some cupcakes with.
