Coolest Homemade Caterpillar Birthday Cake for a 1st Birthday Party

I made this Caterpillar Birthday Cake for my daughter’s first birthday. It has a buttercream frosting on the cake and cupcakes, dyed with Wilton food coloring. For the caterpillar I used a small pyrex glass bowl that I half filled with a packaged cake mix, and cooked 5 of them to get each section. I then placed them as I desired on a large cake board from the bulk store. Then I used a piping bag with the grass-like tip in different colors to achieve the fuzzy cooking texture.

I used sugar dot candies for the face, and pip-cleaners for the antennas. I stuck little icing flowers in random spots, and I used dollar store cut out letters for her name. I used lemon sugar slice candies for the feet. The cupcakes I did with the same grassy tip on the piping bag, and I stuck flower shaped lollipops on them from the dollar store. I cut little leaves out of airhead candy sticks to use at the base of each flower.

Fun cake to make!!
