Homemade Chevy Birthday Cake

I made this Chevy Birthday Cake for my youngest son's two year old party. Since his favorite color is green and all he ever talks about is trucks it just fit. At the party it was a huge hit. I got a lot of great ideas off the internet thanks to everyone who submits there cake pics.

I made this cake from scratch, being the dad I don't bake much but that part was easy. I decided to use a standard 9/13 cake pan. I first stenciled out the size of the cake on paper. I figured out I was going to be able to cut the cake length wise I then used one half for the front end cab and part of the box. The other half I cut in half again and used half to extend the box the other half sculpted to be the top part of the cab.

Then I used the stencil that I drew out on paper to lay on top of the cake to cut out the wheel wells in the proper place. Now the fun part frosting it. I just bought plain white frosting and used cake food coloring to mix up the green, grey, and black. I first outlined the whole body, windows, doors, etc. with black. Then filled in the rest.

I used chocolate donuts double stacked for wheels and last cupcakes for boulders. Thanks everyone for the great ideas.
