Homemade Chica Chica Boom Boom Cake

My son is crazy about Chica Chica Boom Boom, the book, so he had a birthday party around this theme. We had homemade Chica Chica Boom Boom Cake and pinata. The preparation was as fun as the party, he was so excited!

I used a plain yellow cake, with chocolate filling, and royal icing with a little bit of red coloring (confectioner sugar, egg white and lemon juice). The details on the top are made with almond paste (marzipan).

I'm going to buy a costco cake w no decor and I'm gonna make the tree out of icing, but use the alphabet refrigerator magnets for the letters for my 3 yo. Love it!

I am totally going to do this for my 2 year old.. I was rudely (but innocently) awakened VERY early one dark dark morning with a slam to the head by my 15 month old. Luckily I can recite it by heart now and didn't have to get out of bed to turn on the lights or even open my eyes or the book.. I just started reciting and he just sat there politely until I finished and then curled up with us and went back to sleep.. I love it.. I love it.. I love him even more, but I love this idea! Thanks!
