Homemade Cinderella Birthday Cake

Homemade Cinderella Birthday Cake

I made this Cinderella birthday cake for my daughter's 4th birthday and it was a hit at the party.

I used Wilton's magic mold pan for the doll's skirt and the base was two 12-inch cakes. I cut a piece of cardboard the width of the doll's skirt so I could easily dissemble the cake later for cutting. The doll was a little too big for the skirt cake but I took advantage of this and cut a hole in the disc so the doll's feet would anchor into the base cake.

Next, for the dress. I used marshmallow fondant and tinted the main part of the dress with a touch of Wilton's delphinium blue and cornflower blue to get just the right color. For the lighter shade on the dress, I used just a touch of delphinium blue.

The base was tinted with pink and a touch of violet to take out the brightness of pink.

The mice (Jaq & Gus) I purchased pre-made fondant already colored and just shaped them using fondant tools and toothpicks. I did get the idea off of coolest cakes for the mice and also had my daughter's Cinderella story book beside me so I could match up the colors. Then I placed the candles in the dolls hands with a touch of fondant and place two more in the hats of the mice.

Wow, I really love your cake! I have made a Cinderella one myself which is on the site, but I love the way you got the skirt to kick out like that and I really love the mice too. Really well done.
