Cute Homemade 2 Tiered Cinderella Birthday Cake

I made this Cinderella cake for my daughter’s fourth birthday and got the inspiration from this site.

I used 3 store-bought cake mixes and about two to three cans of icing. I used one cake mix to make the bottom base in a 10″ x 13″ pan and followed baking directions on the box. I used another cake mix to make two 9″ round cakes, again following baking directions. Then I used a 1.5 qu pyrex bowl and filled it a little less than ¾ full and baked it at 250 degrees for about 2 ½ hours. I used the remaining mix, that didn’t fit in the pyrex bowl, to make a tray of mini cupcakes and a tray of cupcakes.

I let the cakes cool and cut a small hole in the middle of each of them. I then stacked the cakes, using frosting in between the layers. I then lightly iced the entire cake to catch all the crumbs and put in the refrigerator to get cold.

Once the cake was cool, I used blue food coloring to color white store-bought icing and iced the dress part of her cake. I then used red food coloring to color white store-bought icing pink and iced the base. I used purple icing to color one of the mini muffins which was used as a pillow for Cinderella’s shoe.

I bought some candy roses and Happy Birthday lettering at the store to decorate the cake. For the white trim around the cake and dress, I used Easy flow Icing. I took my daughter’s Cinderella doll, wrapped her legs in saran wrap and put her in the hole in the middle of the cakes. I then used one of the cupcakes to hold the candle for my daughter.

This was my first time making a cake like this and I think it came out well for a first try.
