Homemade Clifford Birthday Cake

My cousin's son turned one and they wanted a Clifford theme cake. I looked on here for the ideas of a Clifford Birthday Cake. I cut out the shape of Clifford from one sheet cake and laid him on top of the cake I covered in green buttercream icing. So he is actually raised up.

I used a star tip to cover Clifford in the red icing. To get the red color just right, I found it best to add the red to a little bit of icing at a time. I took about a half of a cup at a time and add a lot of red and mix by hand, then repeat the process and mix them all together to get the right color red. I tried mixing all of it in the mixer and it seemed to combust the color molecules too much and make it a pink color.
