Homemade Coiled Snake Birthday Cake
I made this Homemade Coiled Snake Birthday Cake for 5 year old. The body of the snake was made by cooking cakes in bunt and doughnut shaped cake pans and covered with fondant. The tail was shaped with left over cake and covered with fondant as well. A textured tile was used to create the look of snake skin on the fondant before it was put onto the cake.
The head of the snake was made by shaping rice krispy treats onto a popsicle stick. The head was covered in fondant, the stick was put into the top part of the body and the fondant was connected to look like wrinkled snake skin.
The sign was made by cutting cardboard to the desired shape and then covering it with fondant. The edge of a spatula was used to create the indented lines on the sign and then it was painted with brown food coloring to look like wood stain.
The body was painted with green and brown food coloring. Frosting was used for the mud and grass.
