Coolest Converse Sneaker Cake
This Converse Sneaker Cake was made for my daughter's 11th birthday. She couldn't decide on a cake, so I made it into one of her prized possessions, her high top converse sneakers. In fact, she doesn't own a pair in green, but wishes she did.
I used a 10" square pan and an 8" square pan. I first cut the 10" in half, then torted it into 8 layers. I layered them with chocolate buttercream. The inside of shoe (ankle) was cut from the 8" square. I rounded out the sole and cut an arch curve on one side. I crumb coated the whole shoe and let it sit overnight in the fridge. The next morning I re-frosted it with a white buttercream. I applied fondant to the sneaker, one side at a time for the lime green. I wrapped the base in white fondant for the rubber sole. The laces are white fondant as well. The black on the rubber is made from using an edible marker, to look a little worn. I made side air holes and lace holes from black fondant circles.
All the kids loved the look and taste of this cake!
