Cute Homemade Cookie Monster Birthday Cake With Cookie Border

It was my nephew’s first birthday and I wanted him to have his own cake to make a mess of, so I made him a Cookie Monster Birthday Cake which was the theme of the party. I used 1 Pyrex bowl, and circle cake pans.

For the head I baked two halves in the Pyrex bowl. For the main cake I baked two circle foil pans and for the arms I took the foil pans I was finished with and bent them in half and filled with cake mix and then cut them diagonally to make the arms.

I used white icing and blue food coloring for the base coat of icing after I took a wooden stick from the store like a kabob stick and put it down the center of the head to make sure his head wouldn’t fall off. Then I took canned Betty Crocker icing from Winn Dixie and did the effect on the cake.

The brown icing is just basic chocolate icing and the black is the same Betty Crocker canned icing in black. The cookies on the bottom are just Chips Ahoy mini’s, none the less in the end it was fun to see him tear it up. It was way worth all the work!
